This year’s UKIO conference wasn’t just another event on the calendar. It was an opportunity to have real conversations with the people who matter most: students navigating their futures, educators shaping clinical readiness, and decision-makers looking for tools that actually deliver.
We were proud to be there, not just to showcase our simulation platforms, but to listen.
New Conversations, New Directions
What stood out were the candid exchanges with students. They weren’t asking about abstract pedagogy. They wanted to know how to feel confident stepping into clinical placements, how to reduce the stress of practical assessments, and how to bridge the gap between theory and safe practice. These are precisely the questions our platform is designed to answer.
Educators also shared honest reflections on curriculum gaps, assessment constraints, and the pressure to integrate meaningful digital learning without adding complexity. Being in the room, face to face, made it easier to connect those concerns with practical solutions.
A Warm Welcome for Jan Antons
It was also a pleasure to formally introduce Jan Antons from 4gdconsulting, our new UK-based distributor. Jan brings deep local knowledge, strong industry relationships, and a clear commitment to advancing simulation-based learning in UK institutions. With Jan on the ground, schools and universities now have a dedicated contact who understands both the sector and the software. He can support implementation, training, and ongoing success. Jan can be reached directly at info@4gdconsulting.co.uk.
Unplugged, Untethered, Uncomplicated
UKIO was also the first time we publicly demonstrated our new stand-alone modes for both our Radiography and Radiation Safety platforms. These don’t require an expensive PC or cables. Everything runs directly on the headset.
Why does this matter?
-
Lower total cost – no high-spec gaming laptops needed
-
Simpler setup – no IT department required
-
Greater mobility – use it anywhere, anytime
-
Better access – makes simulation realistic for schools with limited infrastructure
These new modes open the door for more inclusive training environments, especially for regional campuses, satellite clinics, or programs that rely on shared equipment.
The Feedback We Heard, Loud and Clear
Without fail, every single comment from educators and students reinforced why we do this. A few stood out:
-
“We couldn’t be without this software. It’s part of how we teach now.”
-
“My students are finally understanding projection and positioning without freezing in clinical.”
-
“It’s saved us hours in assessment prep. We can see where students are struggling before they get to placement.”
-
“This is the first tool I’ve seen that actually builds confidence, not just competence.”
-
“We’ve stopped relying on passive learning. This makes students active from day one.”
The Takeaway
Being at UKIO wasn’t about ticking a box. It was about showing up with new tech, a new UK partner, and a willingness to engage. The conversations we had will shape how we build, train, and support in the months ahead.
If you stopped by our stand, thank you. If you didn’t, we’ll see you next time.
